Jennifer-Rose.
Known as Jing.
"Intuitive, fine-line compositions that feel like contemporary ink drawings shaped by anatomical awareness and emotional restraint."
I'm Jing — a tattoo and visual artist working in black and gray. My style leans feminine-neutral: rooted in abstract pen-and-ink drawings, organic flow, and stylized florals. Each piece is designed to feel subtle, modern, and intuitive, balancing softness with structure.
My name's Jennifer-Rose, but most people know me as Jing. I'm an American-born Chinese-Filipino. I initially studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art before deciding to make a drastic switch — becoming a doctor, moving to the Philippines to take up premed and medicine. I graduated with a biology degree and a Doctor of Medicine, then received the opportunity to return to art as a tattoo artist.
I completed my tattoo apprenticeship from end of 2021 to 2023, and since then have had my private studio at Down The Rabbit Hole Studio in Cebu, Philippines. Today, my work bridges both worlds — combining technical discipline with artistic sensitivity to create tattoos and artworks that feel intentional, personal, and quietly expressive.
What makes the work different
A medically-informed artistic eye shapes every piece. Compositions follow the body naturally — flow that is placed rather than just drawn, an intuitive understanding of skin as a living canvas.
Feminine-neutral, not traditionally "feminine." Delicate but not fragile. Soft but not ornamental overload. Abstract yet still emotionally readable. The work sits in a space that doesn't lean toward any gender — it simply feels right.
The experience
For first-time clients — whether it's your first tattoo or your first session with me — I usually prefer a consultation before we begin. Face to face or video call, just to address any concerns and make the design process easier for both of us. It also gives us a chance to talk through placement, sizing, deposit details, and studio logistics naturally.
The studio is intentionally designed to feel welcoming for all genders — a space that feels like home, not a traditional shop. Free coffee, tea, water, and snacks are always available. Free wifi, a clean bathroom, books to browse, and a mini merch corner make longer sessions comfortable.
Art beyond tattoos
Alongside tattooing, I create original pen-and-ink artworks — florals, abstract compositions, and illustrative pieces available as originals and prints. These works are exhibited and sold separately, including at international art fairs.
